"I am a physician recently retired from forty years of practice in Internal Medicine. I was exposed to alternative medical practices, particularly acupuncture and herbal medicine. My experience with Reiki was limited. My wife, Suzanne, has spasticity related to left parietal syndrome and a significantly altered gait. Six months ago she began to have constant, moderately severe low back pain which did not respond to orthopedic evaluation, physical therapy treatments or non-steroidal anti-inflammatories. Two months ago I told Marcela Cruz about this change. She asked Suzanne if she would be amenable to long distance Reiki. Suzanne was open to the possibilities. We both forgot about the offer. Several weeks later, at the end of a long day and late evening of taking care of our grandchildren, she was free of back pain and tightness for the first time in many months. And this was despite the fact that Suzanne had forgotten to take her medication that day. When she checked her email that night, she found a letter from Marcela saying that she had sent a Reiki treatment, which happened to be at the exact time that the pain had disappeared.
